Building Stronger Communities launch event

Scottish Community Development Centre (SCDC) will launch its new resource, Building Stronger Communities, on Tuesday 8th October 2013, 1.30pm – 4pm, at the Teacher Building, 14 St. Enoch Square, Glasgow G1 4DB.

Building Stronger Communities: A practical assessment and planning tool for community capacity building in Scotland is an important new resource for practitioners and planners working within a range of sectors to help make Scotland’s communities better places to live.  This practical resource sets out a common framework to help partners at strategic, practitioner and community levels to adopt a strategic, participatory approach to building community capacity.

The launch event will provide an opportunity to learn about how Building Stronger Communities can assist you in your role. It will be useful to both managers and practitioners in community planning, health, regeneration, CLD and the voluntary and community sector. Participants will receive a hard copy of the resource on the day.

Guest speaker will be Steve Skinner (click here for biography), the co-author of Assessing Community Strengths (Skinner/Wilson) which is the resource Building Stronger Communities is based on. Steve will be sharing his experience of applying the tool and explaining the benefits of using it.

Programme details will be provided after registering. Please contact Susan Paxton, Development Manager on 0141 248 1924, susan@scdc.org.uk or email sam@scdc.org.uk for more information on the event and for details of training and support around the resource.
