When will you get the money?
We aim to send out the funding money to successful applicants in September 2018 (We must receive a reference and signed funding acceptance form before we can send out the money).

When does the money have to be used by?
We expect successful applicants to spend the money by September 2019.

What will we fund?
The development fund is open to groups and agencies working within Scotland’s low-income communities to improve access to, and take up of a healthy balanced diet.

This year we will prioritise applications from the community and voluntary sector, and that build on what we have learned from community initiatives themselves about what works, including one or more of these:

– community cafes or community retailers networking or collaborating more
– community cafes developing an evaluation plan to find out what difference their work makes
– cooking skills activities that adapt to group and/ or individual needs and evaluate what difference this makes
– groups that wish to understand in more depth the experiences and needs of people experiencing food insecurity

Please read the guidance notes for further information about the types of activities we will prioritise.

There are examples of how the activities of some of last year’s funding recipients and other groups we have supported would contribute to our priorities this year in our special edition e-bulletin.

Who can apply?/who can’t apply?
We welcome applications from groups and agencies working with or within low-income communities in Scotland. Individuals or private companies cannot apply for development funding from us. For more information, please see our guidance notes.
