Jobs at Helmsdale and District Development Trust

Helmsdale and District Development Trust has two new part time jobs available. Both posts are funded by the National Lottery Community Fund and are for a fixed term of 2 years. Closing date for applications is noon 15th March, 2019.

Head Gardener: part-time 21 hours per week: Salary £23,400 – £25,500 FTE pro rata 21 hours – based on experience

The successful candidate will work with the Kitchen Garden Group, and the wider community, to provide the community with a sustainable resource for healthy food and assist in delivering community-based activities. They will work as part of the Kitchen Garden Team to develop and maintain the community garden.

The applicant will be an enthusiastic and knowledgeable gardener. A relevant qualification or prior experience in a horticultural project would be advantageous as would a knowledge and affinity for the locality.  The ability to work on your own initiative is essential.

Project Officer: part-time 21 hours per week, Salary £23,400 – £25,500 FTE pro rata 21 hours – based on experience

The successful candidate will work with the Kitchen Garden Group, and the wider community, to develop and implement an education programme and to provide the community with a sustainable resource for healthy food. They will work as part of the Kitchen Garden Team to deliver workshops and work hands-on to develop the community garden.

The applicant will have a good understanding of environmental and food production issues affecting fragile rural areas and be IT literate. A relevant qualification or prior experience in the delivery of a horticultural project would be advantageous as would a knowledge and affinity for the locality.  The ability to work on your own initiative is essential.
