Community food activity addressing climate change
Added on Monday 14 Sep 2009
Green Alliance (www.green-alliance.org.uk) is currently undertaking a project to map climate change activities happening across the whole of the third sector. The focus is on national or organisational activities, as well as trying to get a sense of how well national activities filter down to a local level. The final report from this project will be produced towards the end of this year, acting as a resource for the third sector, funders and other interested parties, as well as identifying opportunities to increase the scale and impact of third sector climate change activities. It will be circulated widely within the third sector and will also inform the work of the Government's Third Sector Taskforce on Climate Change (see http://www.defra.gov.uk/news/2009/090323a.htm for more details on the Taskforce).
As part of the project people across the whole of the third sector are being asked to complete a short questionnaire to capture their views. Those with more knowledge or involvement in climate change activities within their organisation are also being asked to complete an activities sheetin order to give some more detail on specific climate change activities at a national or organisational level. Green Alliance will also be interviewing a number of people across a range of organisations in order to gain further insight into some of the barriers, opportunities and motivations surrounding current climate change activities in the third sector.
Green Alliance is interested to hear from any community food initiatives whose activities are contributing towards addressing issues related to climate change. Please take part as fully as you are able, by the 12th October if possible, as every piece of information will contribute to this valuable piece of research.
