Recommendations sought by the Scottish Government from a working group on food access and affordability, supported by CFHS, were sent to Ministers shortly before the recent election campaign. The report produced by the group involved representatives from community and voluntary organisations in Edinburgh, Lanarkshire, Fife and Dumfries and Galloway.

Interviews with 790 organisations have identified a wide range of food-related work taking place within minority ethnic communities and also substantial unmet need.

Tackling Health Inequalities in Scotland: working with communities ñ a partnership of Scottish Intermediary bodies has been produced by Napier University on behalf of Community Food and Health (Scotland), Community Health Exchange (Chex), Voluntary Health Scotland and the UK Public Health Alliance, to highlight the contribution that national intermediary bodies make to the local tackling of health inequalities. The report looks at the common features as well as unique selling points of these well established national networking and support agencies.

Nutrition Scoping Exercise

A recent publication by Glasgow Addiction Services summarises the key findings from a scoping exercise looking at the nutritional care currently provided within their service. The report found that there were high levels of nutritional problems amongst service users and identified some gaps in the service, including the need for more robust nutritional screening procedures, staff nutrition training and a lack of suitable nutrition education resources. The report will be now be used by Glasgow Addiction Services to help develop strategies to improve nutritional care across the service.
